The Company

Authentik Language Learning Resources Ltd. is a campus company of Ireland’s oldest University, Trinity College, Dublin. Authentik began in 1978 as a research project in the School of Education, Trinity College. The company was founded some years later, as a result of extensive groundbreaking research into the benefits of using authentic materials for language learning.

Two of the Directors of the company are Fellows of Trinity College, Dublin:

  Centre for Language and Communication Studies.

For 30 years our experienced editors, practising teachers and native speakers, backed by ongoing research in Trinity College, have been publishing materials of the highest quality in French, German, Spanish, English and Italian.

We provide language learners and teachers with magazines, CDs, online resources, photocopiable exam practice books, books for teachers and researchers. Our association with Trinity College, Dublin ensures that all our material is produced to the highest pedagogical standard.

Authentik was one of the first recipients of The European Label for Innovative Language Teaching and Learning in 1998. The Company has just been awarded the European Language Label for Innovation 2008 for its new product “… à la française”

Authentik’s Philosophy

Research has shown that learners learn best when they are interested. This is why all our magazines, exam books and audio programmes are based on real, up-to-date issues which are sure to motivate learners. We believe that exposure to real language is essential in order to develop the ability to use a second or third language. Therefore, we do not simplify or alter the authentic extracts. Learners get a chance to study language that people actually speak and write. Using Authentik resources is the next best thing to being in the target language country!
